True Blood Opening Credits

Let’s take a look at the opening credits for True Blood. I’m so intrigued by the montage of seemingly innocent things- that somehow combined with as sultry song and the expectation of naughtiness, creates a disturbingly melodic intro that I can’t take my eyes off.

I also have to wonder, is that intro really indicative of Louisiana? It shows toddlers in KKK outfits, children eating something that smears what appears to be blood (but is likely ketchup or bbq sauce) all over their face, alligator jaws, broken down cars left in the swamps to rot and be consumed.

There’s a sign that says “God hates fangs.” Now, I’m not a church goer, or anything or the sort- but last I hear, God loves everyone. Then again, this is taking place in an alternate reality, so perhaps the rules are a bit different there.

The juxtaposition of sexy, half naked babes and clapping, singing church goers makes me giggle and feel naughty all at the same time. Like the kid who just found his parent’s porn collection.
